Satsang with Burt Harding: Illusion Confusion

Hello,

I stumbled onto your web site. Do you really offer spiritual advice? Do you have any words of truth that might help me get past my current illusion/confusion?

While doing a version of “Who am I” about five years ago after a frustrating day, I experienced the death of my ego. So now I know there really isnt a “Y.” and I know about the dream life that I live and that I am really nothing and everything! My 20+ year search
came to an end in one instant. So now I participate in a life that I know isn’t really happening. Amazing, incredible, wierd, wonderful!!!

However, the problem as I currently experience it is that I have three beautiful children and a soulmate; my love for them is so great that I stay firmly attached to this dream.

I often hear of spiritual seekers who let go of attachments such as jobs, material possessions, etc. But I never hear about children. Surely great love fits into this dream somehow?

I am confused how to hold their existance. Even though I know there is no one to die. It hurts to think that I will ever have to leave my children. Being this attached to the physical stops me from sinking as deeply into the nothingness, the bliss that I really
am. It doesnt seem right to ever let go of love. Love has to have some value in all of this.

Maybe we arent really supposed to completely sever all attachments, we just shouldnt be so attached that suffering is caused. If a loved one dies, you let them go, you dont greive for years and years. We are here to see how close we can get to Heaven On Earth.

What do you think?

Sincerely, Y.

Pretending that I am seperate from you when really I am you
and we are one, which is really nothing.

Isn't life a trip!!!!!!

Dear Y.,

How lovely to hear from a kindred spirit. Thank you for your question...

I often hear of spiritual seekers who let go of attachments such as jobs, material possessions, etc. But I never hear about children. Surely great love fits into this dream somehow?

Cheryl, love is what it is all about. The greatest love is unconditional and it happens when we can see our light in another.

When we can look at each other and see the same spirit then that's the highest love. Love is what makes the world appear, rotates the earth around the sun, brings flowers in Spring and gives birth to a human being. These miracles which most people take for granted are LOVE itself manifest.

Our true fundamental nature is pure awareness, however, awareness without love is dry. Awareness is the Father and Love is the Mother Principle. We are made up of both and in fact both are ONE manifesting as two expressions.

Love your children as your very life itself and this love will resonate to your children’s own heart awakening.

The word ‘attachment’ has been misunderstood. Attachment means holding on to possessions because we believe it is who we are. However, when we recognize we are NOT an ego then attachments drop away automatically and our love expands. The word ‘detachment’ is not from our children and loved ones but from thoughts, past and future, worldliness and surface values.

With love,

Burt
